Sydni Wilson, a third-year PhD candidate, recently completed a ten-week summer internship with Colgate-Palmolive in New Brunswick, NJ, working in the Department of Global Technology. During her time there, she was based in a characterization lab known as the Center of Research Excellence (CORE).

Her work focused on refining experimental techniques using Quartz Crystal Microbalance with Dissipation (QCM-D) and learning how to set up long-term experiments designed to yield insights over several years. Through this experience, she deepened her understanding of scalability and how scientific research translates into marketable consumer products.
In her day-to-day work, Sydni also gained exposure to the commercial side of product development, asking critical questions like: How will this product impact the market? This internship allowed her to build meaningful industry connections and bridge the gap between academic research and real-world application.
